Day of the Dead Mass with Salinan Tribe of SLO & Monterey Counties
Saturday, October 25, 2014 (1pm to 5:30pm)
Mission San Antonio de Padua presents the next event in our "Our Treasure . . . Shared" - a celebration of Education and the Arts. This new lecture/concert series is Open and Free to the public as our gift back to the community. Please join us in stepping back in time . . . and enjoy a connection between the past and today.
Second in the series is our Day of the Dead Mass with the Salinan Tribe of SLO & Monterey Counties. Featuring music provided by members of the New World Baroque Orchestra and Choir under the direction of John Warren, the Mass will be followed by a procession to the Mission cemetery and a Salinan ceremony.
Then, at 3:30pm, we will reconvene in the church for the 2nd part of our presentation: a Praise Song for a Native American Hero - NU NA DA UL TSUN YI - This will be a storytelling with music and verse presented by the Arete fund. Poetry and drum by Dianne de Laet. Narration by Ryland Kelly, Tom Pew, and Fr. Martin Mager.
Both events will take place in the Mission church and a light reception of desserts and beverages will follow.
