Phase V of our Seismic Stabilazation Project Begins
If you haven't been out to visit Mission San Antonio in awhile, you may be surprised at all the progress we've made on our seismic stabilization/restoration project!
After having to stop the seismic work and upgrades in 2018 due to lack of funding, we resumed work in December, 2018. Plumbing and ADA (American Disabilities Act) compliancy issues in Phase IV are currently being addressed. The seismic retrofit of the final phase (northeast end of the facilities) has begun. This procedure involves removing the roofing tiles, coring into the adobe walls, installing steel rods and epoxy to form a steel skeleton within an existing adobe structure. Fire, security, electrical and plumbing upgrades are addressed at the same time.
The goal of this project is to provide the much needed attention to the infrastructure, satisfy the CA-State mandate to stabilize the structure, and to provide safety, comfort and ease of mobility for our visitors and retreat guests for many generations to come. Please won't you consider donating financially to help us achieve these worthwhile goals?
