Phase V Work Continues
The seismic stabilization portion of Phase V (of our Five-Phase Project) was finished in February, 2020.
While we are excited to have reached this important milestone, the work of "saving the Mission" is not yet complete. We are now moving into the Padres' Garden - the quadrangle. All of the water lines must be replaced in this area, the fountain needs to be repaired and restored, the garden needs to become much more drought-tolerant and much less labor-intensive. We need to install electrical lines to handle a recirculating pump, lighting, etc.
We are working with a museum consulting firm, The Sibbett Group, on the necessary upgrades for the museum that will ensure the stability and safety of our precious collections. We are addressing the issue of "telling the Mission story" - the site interpretation that encompasses the Museum and the 86-acre historical grounds. The fabric repair to the exterior of the Mission continues, as does the internal painting.
As we move ahead with this worthwhile project, we encourage you to get involved! Become part of the Mission's Story through your financial contribution. You can help us keep this historical gem open to the public for education, relaxation, retreats and spiritual enrichment for many future generations.
